Sripad Aindra prabhu, a disciple of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, joined ISKCON in 1973. He served as a book distributor and pujari in various North American temples, as well as in Radha-Damodara, the famous traveling sankirtana group. Later, after making harinama-sankirtana his life's mission, he himself organized a traveling group and chanted Hare Krsna kirtan on the streets of New York City for 10-12 hours daily. In 1986, Aindra prabhu took shelter of Vrndavana dhama with the goal of reviving the 24-hour kirtan at Krsna-Balaram mandir in fulfillment of Srila Prabhupada’s will. In the years that followed, he became renowned amongst the vaisnavas for his intense devotion to harinama-sankirtana and deeply concentrated bhajan, as well as for his unprecedented revelations on the path of raganuga-bhakti inspired by love-filled Deity worship, unwavering and unadulterated devotion, and spirit of austerity befitting a true dhamavasi. Many devotees were inspired by his words, discovered the elegance and depth of the traditional gaudiya-vaisnava-kirtan, heard the sastra-sung extraordinary mercy and glory of Vraja; and, realizing and redefining the role of chanting the Holy Name together in this age, resolutely devoted themselves to his service in Vrndavana dhama and beyond. Sripad Aindra prabhu left this world on July 17, 2010, in his room, in a prostrating bow at the feet of his beloved Deities, Nitay-Sacisuta. However, his ardent and deep devotion to the service of Sri Hari-nama is still beating out the heartbeat on mrdangas and karatals, steadily, day in and day out, in round-the-clock Hare Krsna kirtan in the heart of Vrndavana, Krsna-Balaram mandir. Kirtaniyah sada harih!
